---Prologue

That day.

On that day as well, Sakai Yuuji was obviously living a normal life.

It was the end of April in his first year of high school. Experiencing this new environment, a time of seriously taking tests and thinking of the future, the distant future. He didn't get into conflicts with others, and so made a number of friends.

His family is middle class. He was an only child born to healthy parents. However, his father, Kantarou, was in the process of being transferred abroad. His mother, Chigusa, was a quiet and proud stay-at-home housewife mother at their house about twenty minutes from his school.

His grades in middle school fluctuated around the average. He didn't feel the need to put forth more effort, but didn't want to become too lazy so he worked just hard enough to maintain that average. Just knowing the basics is good enough said his friend and former classmate, Ike Hayato (dubbed Glasses Man).

He has no girlfriend. There was a girl in the seat beside him that he talked to occassionally, but it wasn't the budding of a relationship; it was simply her need for assistance with homework and other things, a situation which left no room for misunderstanding. His didn't believe that he had to rush it. His juniors' troubles were borne from fretting over how to spend the impending Golden Week. He also harbored the desire to go out with his friends and buy games and manga.

After school that day, he crossed the big metal bridge connecting to the opposite shore's residential area with the intent of going to the game shop or bookstore.

That day,

Until that day,

Yuuji thought those normal days would continue forever.

No, rather, the thought never even crossed his mind.

However, that day, those times,

In a sunset stained red like blood, his normal days and his belief in the world around him was shaken, burned and felled.
